Healing from Separation and Loss, a Collection of True Stories

Mending Hearts is an edited collection of 143 true stories and photos from students and members of the general public of many ages and backgrounds, compiled and displayed at Sunway University’s hit Breakup Exhibitions. Share in the experiences of these heartfelt real-life accounts, each telling the end of a relationship—be it in romance, friendship, or family.

 

Life is a journey defined by one’s experiences, and while no one’s journey is the same, we can all learn much from the shared experiences of others. Get a glimpse into the myriad of feelings and thoughts of those healing from breakups in romance, friendship, and family to develop empathy and ultimately the capacity to understand and relate with each other better.

These stories help normalise breakups and inspire reader to move forward and find their way back to healing and happiness.

This book is suitable for the general public.

Mengzhen Lim is a former lecturer of Psychology at Sunway University’s Department of Psychology. He graduated with an MSc in Social Psychology from Universiti Putra Malaysia. His works have been featured in Malaysiakini, The Star, Free Malaysia Today, The Malaysian insight, Sin Chew Daily, and others. He has also appeared on Astro Awani to speak about mental health-related issues. He currently lives in Tokyo, researching romantic relationships.

Dr Grace Yap has been a professional counsellor since the late 1990s, after completing her Masters from the US. She graduated with a PhD in Psychology from Monash University and previously taught at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. She is currently a health psychology and lecturer-researcher at Sunway University’s Department of Psychology.
